Vermont Employers and Workers Invited to Share Wellness Ideas, Resources at Statewide Conference

Registration is open for the 2023 Vermont Worksite Wellness Awards and Conference, to be held October 24th at the Doubletree by Hilton in Burlington. The annual conference, which has been historically attended by more than 500 business owners and leaders, human resources professionals, and wellness experts from across Vermont, is hosted by the Vermont Department of Health and the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

Most Vermonters spend more than one third of their day at their workplace. Healthy lifestyle incentives, policies, and the environment at their worksite can significantly influence employees’ health. The Worksite Wellness Conference offers opportunities to learn and share employee wellbeing strategies, through presentations, breakout sessions, a panel of outstanding Vermont workplace wellness contributors sharing their best practices, and networking opportunities for attendees.

The keynote address, People, Planet, Purpose, and Profit: Living well together, will be delivered by Jude Smith Rachele, Ph.D., co-founder and chief executive officer of Abundant Sun. Dr. Rachele is an expert in diversity and inclusion management for leaders, companies, and communities, helping professionals understand their cultures better to inform effective strategies to ensure a healthy and inclusive working environment.

A highlight of the conference is the presentation of the Governor’s Excellence in Worksite Wellness awards to Vermont employers in recognition of their employee wellness programs. Governor Phil Scott is anticipated to present the awards. This year, 112 employers will be recognized.

“Employers play a key role in creating positive environments where workers and their families can live healthy lifestyles and feel invested in their careers and their employers,” said Janet Franz, Chair of the Vermont Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. The employers tell us they use the Vermont Worksite Wellness Award application as a tool to benchmark their accomplishments and determine where more work needs to be done.”

Early bird registration for the conference and awards ceremony ends on August 31st. The final deadline to register for is September 30th.
